Auckland Farsi School’s teaching and learning model is based on the Partnership Model. This model includes three circles of Farsi School, Family, and Iranian community. The partnership and collaboration of these three would be beneficial for young Farsi learners.

These circles are described in the following sections.

  • Auckland Farsi School includes classes, content and context, and a supportive program for parents.

  • Auckland Farsi School aims to teach Farsi (reading and writing) to young
Farsi learners who live and study in New Zealand.

  • To support families’ busy lifestyles such as easy access to Farsi classes due to COVID- 19 pandemic, the classes are taught in blended formats of face-to-face and online.

  • In a non-Farsi speaking context, the students’ Farsi vocabulary is smaller than students’ vocabulary who are living in Iran, even if they usually speak Farsi with their family members. Also, the lack of interaction with Iranian culture makes the Farsi teaching and learning process more challenging for these students. This obstacle has been considered in Auckland Farsi School teaching strategies, and suitable solutions have been developed, such as:

    – The teaching team of Auckland Farsi School designed, contextual, and planned Farsi learning material. These teaching contents are multimedia, attractive, and are based on language learning theories.

    – The teaching team in Auckland Farsi School are native and fluent Farsi speakers. Teachers have been educated as professional instructors in Iran or New Zealand and are familiar with teaching methodologies and the context of the New Zealand educational Curriculum.
